Why Bracelet Sizing Matters

Wearing the right fitting bracelet is the key to comfort, you don’t want your bracelet being too tight or alternatively slipping off due to it being too loose.

Ensuring your bracelet fits right for its purpose too is another important factor. If you are wearing the bracelet alone, you may want it to be slightly looser so it can move on your arm comfortably. Whereas, if you are creating a bracelet stack you may want the bracelet to be tighter or looser depending on where you want it to be in the stack.

Tools you’ll need

To measure your wrists to ensure you get the right bracelets for you, you will need a tape measure or a piece of string. If you are using a piece of string you will need a pen to mark the length around your wrist.

A step-by-step measuring guide

Start by measuring your wrists, either with a measuring tape or a string snugly around your wrist. You are using a string, mark the string to where it overlaps once fitted around your wrist and measure up to the mark with a ruler. Always measure your wrist from just below your wrist bone, as this is where normally you wear a bracelet.

Once you have the measurement of your wrist, you can then add on length depending on how you would like your wristwear to fit. For a snug fit we would recommend adding on ¼ to ½ an inch. If you are looking for a more comfortable fit add ¾ to 1 inch. Finally, if you want your bracelet to fit loosely you should add about 1 ¼ inches to your measurement.

Tips for measuring a bracelet for someone else

Looking to get a gift for a loved one, but don’t know their wrist size? No need to worry, we've got a few tips and tricks to help you out.

A great way to find out what size bracelets they were is to measure a bracelet they already own. Lay the bracelet flat and measure from end to end with a ruler or measuring tape. It is important to also note the clasp type, some add extra length to the overall size depending on style.
Another way to find out the size of their wrists is to ask a family member or friend who may know this information. If they do then you can start present shopping!

Common mistakes to avoid

There are a few mistakes people commonly make when measuring and buying wristwear. One of those things is measuring your wrist too loosely or tightly, this means that the bracelet will not fit the correct way.

Leading on from that, people do not take into account wrist swelling due to hot weather or other factors. This means that your bracelet would not then fit comfortably after this, leading to discomfort.
