From Ascot to Wimbledon | Here’s our guide to occasion jewellery for a summer season of serious style

Summer is here and that means race day season and Wimbledon are just around the corner. Whether you have tickets to the main events or are planning on watching them closer to home with friends and family, race days and tennis are a staple of the Great British sporting calendar come rain (highly probably) or shine (you never know). There are so many spring/summer 2019 trends out there but don’t worry, our designers and buying teams have decoded what’s been featured on the catwalk, snapped by influencers on social media and new styling tricks to bring you an occasion jewellery collection that is just right for the season.Royal Ascot Style GuideFirst off is the most famous of British race events Royal Ascot which is synonymous with sartorial elegance. This is not only a show-ground for some of the most brilliant racehorses in the world but also a fashion parade for racegoers. Although dress codes have relaxed over the years the races are still an excellent way to elevate your look. Each enclosure has its own rules which you can find on the official Ascot website. The Royal Enclosure is the most formal but all areas demand race dresses and dressy day-wear. Be warned that whatever type of ticket you may have purchased, dress codes must be strictly adhered to and the racecourse does have the right to refuse entry if they feel you aren’t suitably dressed. For men, a smart suit and tie is the go to but top hat and tails (black or grey morning dress) is required if you’re in the Royal Enclosure. It is also now a stipulation that men must wear a tie. No cravats are allowed, black shoes are also required and you must wear socks! The Windsor Enclosure is the only area where men do not need to wear a tie. For ladies if you are in the Royal Enclosure there are strict rules as to how much flesh is exposed. Dresses that are off-the-shoulder, bardot neckline, halter-neck or have spaghetti straps or straps thinner than one inch are not considered suitable unless you are in the Windsor Enclosure. Miniskirts are frowned on as is exposing your midriff (thankfully!) and needless to say shorts are not permitted. Our style tip is to opt for a killer dress just over the knee, and pair it with a blazer, cape or bolero so you can choose a flattering dress neckline regardless of the enclosure rules. We say go for a killer heel but if you’re worried about being on your feet all day a kitten heel or wedge will still give an elegant finish to your look.How to accessorise your necklineNow it’s time for the all-important finishing touches, jewellery and accessories can add the wow to your outfit.
