Architectural Shapes

A bold new direction is taking over the jewellery sector. Modern structures, art deco and ancient shapes are all being used to influence the designs of this season’s jewellery. Architect Zaha Hadid collaborated with Swarovski in 2008 to produce a set of rings that replicated cellular buildings. Some of these pieces are quiet minimalist; other designers however have taken a different approach to the trend. Chanel has taken a broader look on things and has produced a glittering diamond cuff based on the dynamic Manhattan street-scape.

Earrings have taken their own angle on the trend by displaying sculpted pieces of ear wear. Louis Vuitton gave us beautiful hoops back in 2015, and since then Dior and Balenciaga have followed with some geometric shapes. These earrings are about making an asymmetrical statement and not just dangling with added shine.

Although these designs are sounding complex with their mathematical and geometrical descriptions, these pieces are actually very easy to wear. You can style up a white blouse with a simple intertwined gold necklace, or create a dramatic statement with bold edgy earrings.

Through alternative methods, the jewellery sector have adopted this trend since 1941, and since then different design houses have shaken it up by rejuvenating and have used iconic skylines to inspire them. They soon become statement signature styles whatever way you choose to wear them.
