We caught up with Marguerite Hannah on the set of our recent Spring Summer 2015 photo shoot, to find out about all things Bridal! Catch the glamour here… So tell me...what's the Alan Hannah bridal style philosophy? Without a doubt, the Alan Hannah bridal style philosophy is all about classic and elegant pieces. We design dresses with timeless beauty and this is very much reflected in the Alan Hannah Devoted jewellery collection. How much do your bridal dress designs influence the jewellery designs? I have always believed that it is so important to have a real connection between our dress designs and the jewellery. It’s key that the two work together in sync. We use luxurious silks, lace and hand beading to produce exquisite silhouettes and many of our designs sparkle with Swarovski crystal beadwork creating a real Art Deco feel. You can see this reflected in the intricate detailing with the jewellery – from freshwater pearls to crystal –the elegant lines and materials of the dresses have been mirrored to create beautiful pieces to compliment each and every bride-to-be. Can you tell me about your favourite piece in the jewellery collection for Spring Summer 2015? That’s a difficult question! I would probably say the Alan Hannah Devoted Crystal Spray collection. It is so elegant with a subtle hint of sparkle; glamorous with a classic, timeless feel. It incorporates the Alan Hannah Devoted design philosophy into one distinct collection! The big question from all brides-to-be...what’s going to be hot in bridal style for 2015?! It’s all about simple and classic designs. Lace will feature heavily too, although not quite as much as the last couple of years. A timeless cut will be key and we’ll see much more colour used than in previous years. Spring Summer 2015 is going to be an exciting time for bridal wear! When it comes to bridal accessories, what’s your motto? My motto would have to be keep it classic and elegant with a touch of understated glamour. On a rare day off, we’ll find you where…? I absolutely love to cook – I find it so relaxing and therapeutic! I also enjoy going to galleries for design inspiration and i'd say making pottery is a particular favourite hobby of mine too. If you could have any woman wearing your bridal jewellery, who would it be…? It would have to be the beautiful Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. Where do you find your inspiration for the collections? I absolutely love reading copies of old magazines to seek inspiration for my collections. From editorial layouts to advertisements, there’s always something distinctly different or quirky to spark the creative flame. Much of the Alan Hannah Devoted jewellery range features stunning freshwater pearls and lots of intricate detailing. Can you tell me more about this? Diamante crystals have always been used in the ranges as it’s so lovely to add that touch of sparkle and glamour to a classic piece. I particularly like freshwater pearls because of the sheer variety in size. It’s amazing how you can get so many shapes and sizes of pearls... I love that you can get bumpy freshwater pearls to give an unusual, individual feel. What’s your top tip for looking after bridal jewellery? Store your jewellery well! If you’ve purchased pearl pieces, keep them in their box wrapped in tissue. Do you have a design Muse? I would say that women in general are my design muse. Which other designers inspire you the most and why? It would have to be the late Alexander McQueen. He was inspirational and iconic. I’m always inspired by his work.
