Ever wondered how the models from bridal photo shoots achieve that beautiful, romantic, dewy look from their make up? And how the hairstyles look so effortlessly chic and elegant? Well ladies and brides-to-be your prayers have been answered. It is one of those life long questions, 'How do I wear my make-up and hair on my wedding day?' There are so many magazines, blogs and videos showing you 'How to this and how to that' and lets face it, it can be a bit of a bamboozle for where to start. Fear not, help is at hand! We thought we would make it so much easier for you and ask the expert. We grabbed our make up artist Theresa from our tiara shoot for a quick five minutes to have a chat and to ask for her expert advice on achieving the look (but...sssshhh it's all industry secrets!) So Theresa how long have you worked in the make-up industry: I have worked in the industry for around 4 years now. How did you get into the make-up industry? Well I have always been interested in art, and for me it really was a natural progression to working with make-up. Have you always worked on bridal make-up? No, I have worked on many different shoots with many different brands. It is key to working within the make-up industry, you have to be versatile and be able to cover all looks. I like working on bridal though as it is all so romantic and it sends you daydreaming about your own wedding! So you have been really busy today shooting and styling with the model, what has been your favourite bridal piece to work with so far? I have loved working with the hair slides, they are just so simple and elegant and can really transform the look of your hair. I love the glamour effect they bring to the overall look of the hair. Pin-curl the hair, let it cool, and brush out with a soft bristled brush...put a side parting in the hair, and pin back with a slide...instant 50's glamour. Do you have any other tips for bridal hair for Spring/Summer 2014? My tip would be to just keep it natural, work with the natural texture of your hair, you want your hair to flow, keep it soft. Don't pull your hair too tight and overload with product, it will ruin your day if you get a headache from an uncomfortable hairstyle. What products would you recommend for wedding day hair? Well it really depends on the style you are going for on the day? I use Umberto Giannini, Backcomb in a bottle, this is fab for using at the root to give it a lift without making the hair stiff and crunchy. This is great for holding hair in place also. I also use TRESsemme 24 Hour Body Mattifying Powder, this gives great root lift and matts down the hair and makes it stay fuller for longer. That's great advice for wedding hair...now moving on to the make-up...Talk us through how you created the flawless look on the bridal model. Well I have kept it really simple, very natural, nothing too heavy goes on the face for wedding make up. I have used a lot of brown and pink tones just to blush the cheeks I have used Bobbi Brown Blush in Sand Pink. Useful Tip Alert: Your blusher can also be used on the centre of your eyelids...just dab in the centre with your finger, and it will balance out the colour. I have also used St. Tropez Iluminators to highlight the cheekbones and accentuate the eyes. You want shimmery products that reflect the light, they look really good on photographs. Useful Tip Alert: Use cream based products rather than powder to avoid the make-up looking chalky and heavy. They also blend better. And for the lips? I have just used MAC Matte Lipstick in Brave and over the top, a MAC Creme sheen glass lip gloss in Boy Bait (fitting name really for a wedding!) again just natural, shiny gloss. Thanks for all of the tips and advice Theresa...now on to you. What piece of make-up could you not live without? The piece of make-up I could not live without has to be, MAC Pressed Powder in Gleam. I dab it onto the middle of eyelids, instant pick me up. Also St. Tropez Skin Illuminators. What celeb would you say always gets it right, make-up wise? Angelina Jolie without a doubt. She always looks well presented. She knows her best features and works with them, and even when she is really made up for award ceremonies and so on, she never looks over the top. Very classy lady!
