Lorna Lopez, Head of Design at Jon Richard.
Lorna Lopez, Head of Design at Jon Richard has a 4 year old son and 2 year old twin daughters.
Who inspires you & why?
My mum has always been a huge inspiration to me. Growing up she made me believe that I could achieve anything that I put my mind to and that if you have a passion you should pursue it with all your heart and energy. Now as a mum myself, watching my three children, particularly my 2 year old firecrackers of twin daughters believe that anything is possible, never ceases to amaze and inspire me.
Who are your female icons?
I’m always inspired by lots of women, particularly those who create a difference.
What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
International Women’s Day is an exciting opportunity to recognise women and their contribution to society. It’s a time to celebrate all of the accomplishments women have made over time and the recognition of the incredible struggles of the women who have paved the way for others.
What are you most proud of doing?
I’m proud of what I have achieved in my career and I am immensely proud of my children. So the fact that I am now able to juggle motherhood and continue to work within an industry that inspires me, doing something that I love and am passionate about gives me a great sense of achievement.
What changes would you like to see to encourage women to pursue their dreams?
As a society we need to encourage and support women more after they have had a family, whether they choose to become a full time mum or return to work. There are many pressures in our society that make women feel that they need to choose between family and work. If you have a dream you have to resist society’s pressures. Don’t allow anyone to put an end to your dreams.
