Beauty and the Beast: The Accessories

After months of anticipation and drooling over Emma Watson’s press tour outfits, the live action remake of Beauty and the Beast is finally here. Have you seen it yet? If not, we suggest you cancel all your plans and book your cinema tickets immediately, because it is simply amazing. Get ready for a concoction of musical magic, swooning romance, and breath-taking set design, with a dash of humour thrown in for good measure. We guarantee you’ll come skipping out of the film screen with a huge smile on your face, ready to scour Spotify for the soundtrack the minute you get home.

Of course, for us, it was the dazzling wardrobe that really caught our eye. We’ve always said no outfit is complete without the perfect accessories, not even Belle’s iconic yellow dress- and it’s clear that Jacqueline Durran, the Oscar winning costume designer responsible for Belle’s looks, agrees.

Firstly, let’s talk sparkle. Emma Watson’s gorgeous gown is embellished with over 2000 Swarovski crystals. Just look at it glimmer…

Whilst we can’t help you adorn your favourite dress with thousands of Swarovski crystals, we can help you embody a little bit of Belle with this lemon coloured Jon Richard made with Swarovski Crystals set:

Next, let’s address those killer accessories. Durran chose to complete Belle’s look with a golden ear cuff and striking pendant, putting a contemporary twist on the iconic look. She said her aim was to capture the magical way in which “the castle moves and evolves”. These two pieces of jewellery were chosen as they emulate a “tree of life that’s still in motion”.

The tree of life is a key trend this season. Shop our Simply Silver range, now.

We also are seriously considering wearing hair combs to the office from now on, after falling in love with the gorgeous piece used to hold Emma’s hair half up, half down. The hair ornament was designed with a feather motif, which Durran said played into the way that Emma uses the movement of her dress to “interpret Belle’s lightness”.

The feather motif is another hugely popular look at the moment. If you want to add some to your wardrobe, shop everything from your very own decadent feather hair piece, to fine and dainty feather pieces you can wear every day, with jonrichard.com.
